I want to tell you a story that illustrates the importance of building your email list the right way. It’s important because, if not done right, your email list just turns into one more thing that you have to maintain WITHOUT any returns. Kinda like treating your dog like a prince and hoping one day they will start paying rent, or at the very least, help put away their toys.
So here’s what happened with Kristin…
After helping 100s of women as a licensed therapist for over 10 years, Kristin wanted to launch an online course to help professional women deal with their anxiety the right way. She also had an email list to which she could launch her course.
But there was one problem with her email list.
Her list of 500 strong, which she had built over the years, was not very responsive to her course’s soft launch. Despite having a great sales page (and strategic launch emails) that showcased how valuable her course was.
They were not the right people to launch to.
Or maybe they were.
But one thing’s for sure.

After further research, we decided to sweeten the pot with an additional resource available to them once they opted in using their emails.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
We grew Kristin’s list from 500 dead subscribers to over 1473 active subscribers, with over 15 to 20 new subscribers joining every day. And we continue to nurture them with valuable emails after they’ve joined.
Now here’s your biggest takeaway from all this…
If you want to build your email list the right way, you need the right lead magnet and lead magnet launch funnel for it.
However, there are some crucial things to keep in mind as you apply this technique to your situation.
- Any random lead magnet won’t do. You need a lead magnet that not only gives value but also ties into your launch offer.
- If one approach doesn’t work, try another. Tweak the lead magnet funnel until it gives you the results you need.
- You need to know what your audience will react to. Some may react better to a quiz, while others might prefer a checklist or a pdf.
- Having a really great lead magnet is not enough. You need an entire lead magnet funnel if you really want to build that list.
