Hello!

The age-old story continues. Just as you’re getting your marketing strategy rocking and rolling, a new player enters the field and blows things up in a totally new direction! If you’ve been paying much attention to social media recently, you likely know exactly what I’m talking about — the new platform, Clubhouse. It’s new. It’s exclusive. And everyone wants an invite. So, the question is: Can you really get clients from Clubhouse? (more to the point: Is it worth your time and resources to join yet another social media app?)

The answer: yes… and no.

Helpful, I know. Hang with me a minute though!

Honestly, it depends on how you’re using it, who your ideal client is, the services you’re offering, etc. As with every other piece of marketing strategy, you have to formulate a plan that works for you and your business. You only have so many hours in the day!

There have been numerous success stories of people’s Instagram DMs blowing up after just a few Clubhouse interactions. There are also people who are frustrated and overwhelmed by using Clubhouse who haven’t seen any real results yet.

My take: It can be amazing for your business, but it can also be another distraction from your true goals. My recommendation is to approach Clubhouse with both curiosity and a bit of strategy on what the heck you’re doing there to make the most of it.

So, if you’re wanting to give Clubhouse a whirl, here are a few tips to try as you dive into making connections, joining rooms, and exploring whether or not you can get clients from Clubhouse.

Tip #1 for Getting Clients from Clubhouse: Create a Killer Profile.

When you create your profile in Clubhouse, make sure you are optimizing it to show off your expertise and authority in your field.

Highlight what you do and who you are upfront. This could include specific services, courses, or certifications. Also, make sure you’re providing a clear call-to-action for anyone who visits your profile. Let people know how and where to find you… AND why. For example, ask them to send you a DM on Instagram to book a call with you or see if they’re a good fit for your coaching program.

A key to getting clients from Clubhouse is they have to know where to connect with you outside of the app itself because they cannot directly message you within the Clubhouse platform.

Also, don’t be afraid to throw in some emojis to break up the text in your profile and catch people’s attention. 😉 You want your profile to be informative, but also inviting. Don’t make it too overwhelming or too long because no one will take the time to read it.

{BONUS TIP: Be sure to link your Instagram and Twitter profiles to your Clubhouse profile, too.}

Tip #2 for Getting Clients from Clubhouse: Find People in Your Industry and Follow Them ASAP.

It’s fairly easy to search for other people in your field and to follow them on Clubhouse. With Clubhouse, it’s not so much about them following you back as it is knowing when there are rooms scheduled or randomly happening that have topics you want to chime in on.

When you follow people on Clubhouse, you will get alerts when those people are hosting or joining rooms that you may want to be a part of. The rooms they are in are likely where your people (aka your potential clients from Clubhouse) are hanging out and having conversations. These rooms can also be the perfect places to speak up and offer insight if you’re not ready to host a room yourself.

When you speak in a Clubhouse room, people will be able to click on your killer profile (see tip #1!) to learn more about you and how to get in touch with you.

Even if you don’t speak in every room you join (which you probably won’t), you have the amazing opportunity to hear the questions and conversations happening amongst your ideal clients in real-time. This can help to inform your content in other places like your Instagram, LinkedIn, or blog. You also can look at other people’s profiles and reach out to them on Instagram or follow them on other platforms.

Tip #3 for Getting Clients from Clubhouse: Look for Smaller Rooms with Specific Niches.

Big rooms on Clubhouse hosted by the major people in your industry can be overwhelming and incredibly hard to network (or even speak) in — especially if you’re not a natural public speaker or tend to be an introvert. So while you can gain powerful insight and connections from these big rooms within your industry, I prefer the smaller, more niche rooms.

For me, business is all about personal relationships and connections, and I generally gravitate towards smaller groups and feel more comfortable sharing and brainstorming with people there. And, I’m guessing, as a heart-centered entrepreneur, you likely feel the same way.

You might not find as many potential clients from Clubhouse by joining in smaller rooms, but I firmly believe that the leads you get from these more intimate spaces will be warmer leads and have a higher conversion rate for your business.

Tip #4 for Getting Clients from Clubhouse: Host Your Own Room.

After spending some time lurking and speaking in other people’s Clubhouse rooms (big or small!), it’s time to pony up and host a room of your very own. Truthfully, this is the absolute best way to get clients from Clubhouse!

Logistically, hosting your own room simply means choosing a topic, picking a time, and getting ready to talk for however long you want. If you generally don’t love public speaking, don’t worry! This is way less formal than other professional speaking opportunities. Think of it more as networking at a mixer than presenting at a conference.

It may seem a bit daunting at first, but by hosting a room, you will step into your chance to shine and build real authority for your people in Clubhouse. This is where you can show you know your stuff and establish yourself as the go-to expert in your niche.

Bottom Line for Getting Clients from Clubhouse…

Jump in and give it a try! However, don’t let it derail you from your current marketing strategy and become yet another way to compare yourself with other business owners. Focus on reaching your people and authentically showing up for them wherever you are!
